01 — Systems

Three flooring systems, one raw material.

Each application has its own composition and material requirements: base and surface systems for playgrounds and pedestrian areas, and CUSHION compositions for sports courts.

02 — Benefits

Why footwear rubber performs better than tyre rubber.

Six differences installers notice on site, not in a catalogue: less weight, less odour, less mess and a cleaner finish.

01

Greater comfort and resilience

Better impact absorption and greater comfort with every step, with more uniform elastic performance.

02

Fewer odours

Recycled and treated material, free from compounds typically found in tyres: a cleaner environment in schools and playgrounds.

03

Less material per m²

Lower density: less material and less weight to transport to cover exactly the same area.

04

Lower carbon footprint

Discarded footwear returns to the production cycle instead of being destroyed, and each project involves moving far less weight.

05

Cleaner material

No metal or textile remnants. The elastic and coloured layers are easier to lay and require less finishing work.

06

A range of colours

Vivid, uniform shades, with colour encapsulated within the granules for a more stable finish.

03 — Process

From a discarded shoe to flooring that lasts for years.

Six steps from post-industrial footwear waste to the finished surface. All material processing takes place before it reaches your site.

  1. Collection
    01

    Collection

Footwear and post-industrial waste that would otherwise be destroyed.

  2. Shredding
    02

    Shredding

Size reduction and separation of unusable components.

  3. Granulation
    03

    Granulation

The material becomes clean granules, free of wire and fibres.

  4. Conditioning
    04

    Conditioning

Screening and grading by particle size to suit the intended layer.

  5. Encapsulation
    05

    Encapsulation

Colouring and mixing with the resin binder that holds the system together.

  6. Installation
    06

    Installation

On-site laying of the base layer and coloured top layer over a firm substrate.

06 — Common questions

Frequently asked questions.

The questions installers most often ask before their first project. If your question is not here, contact us and our technical department will help.

What thickness do I need for a playground?+

The base layer thickness is determined by the equipment's fall height, following the impact attenuation criteria of EN 1177. In the calculator, choose the base thickness (4.5 kg/m² per 10 mm) plus a 10 mm top layer (6.5 kg/m²). Tell us the height and we will advise on the system.

Does the calculator include wastage?+

Not by default. The base result is the theoretical quantity based on density and thickness. You can add a wastage allowance with the slider for trimming, slopes, finishing and substrate levelling.

Which products does each system include?+

FLEX SHOE ROAD combines a polymer and mineral particle wearing course with SYNTHEFIX QUARTZ acrylic primer. In PARQUES ECO SOLES, binder is calculated as top layer × 0.23 + base layer × 0.12 (3.12 kg/m² with a 30 mm base). MULTISPORT ECOCOURT has its own products and quantities per layer: 1.75 kg/m² for CUSHION 5 and 2.95 kg/m² for CUSHION 7, including SYNTHEPRIMER EPW 201.

Which substrates can it be installed on?+

Usually concrete or asphalt: a firm, clean and stable substrate with appropriate slope and drainage. Primer and preparation depend on the substrate condition; we confirm these using the system's technical datasheets.

How soon can the surface be used?+

Curing depends on temperature and humidity on the installation day. As a typical guide, the surface remains out of use for 24 to 48 hours. The definitive time is stated in the supplied binder's technical datasheet.

Why does it weigh less than tyre granules?+

Footwear granules have a lower density. For the same area and thickness, fewer kilograms are needed: over 30% less weight to transport and handle, according to our technical documentation.

Which colours can I order?+

The fifteen sample shades are normally available. Other colours can be considered on request, subject to minimum manufacturing quantities.

Do you provide technical support for installers?+

Yes: advice on systems, thicknesses, quantities and installation. Tell us about your project and our technical department will support you from calculation to completion.
