Valencian Innovation Agency funding — NEWPOL project

Support for the development of a circular economy model for footwear industry waste through the NEWPOL project.

The project ‘INDUSTRIAL RESEARCH AIMED AT DEVELOPING A CIRCULAR ECONOMY MODEL FOR FOOTWEAR INDUSTRY WASTE’ by SYNTHELAST, S.L., file number INNEST/2021/192, received funding from the Valencian Innovation Agency (AVI) through its programme to strengthen and develop the Valencian Innovation System and improve the production model for the 2021–2023 period. The NEWPOL project aimed to recover value from polyurethane waste from the footwear industry through two strategies: chemical glycolysis and mechanical shredding of shoes. The project sought a technical alternative for managing and recovering footwear-derived polyurethane products, whose nature poses an environmental challenge, addressing a need of general interest to the footwear industry.
